That's why her hair is so big, it's full of secrets! -Mean Girls

Lately I have been telling a lot of secrets, my own of course. I don't like to tell other peoples' secrets, unless they are really juicy!
The last secret I told was to Jason and Blake: I am very afraid of birds. I wouldn't say deathly afraid, but VERY afraid. Seriously.
Here is another secret/confession: I love looking at photographer's blogs or web sites to critique their pictures.
This is my process of critique:
  • I will only stop at a picture if there is something that stands out to me, good or bad.
  • If it stands out to me in a good way, I will look at it and try to burn into my brain why I like it. Maybe the scenery was breath-taking or the family in the photo was a good looking family. Or maybe I like that the certain picture was in sepia instead of black and white.
  • If the picture stands out to me in a bad way, I will not burn it into my brain, I will simply discuss in my mind what I don't like about it. Most of the time I don't like photos if I think the photographer is not being original. Or... sad to say, if the people in the picture were caught at the wrong moment. I was looking at this photographer's blog last week and she had posted wedding pictures of a good looking couple. They were good looking when they smiled, but the photographer's style was a lot of serious-faced pictures. In one picture they both had the most confused looks on their faces, I could not believe she put it on her blog. I could tell the confused looks were not intentional, it was ridiculous!
  • When I see a picture that stands out to me in a bad way I tend to think, "I am glad the photographer can't hear my thoughts, they would probably stop taking pictures if they did!"

I have always had a really big interest in photography, but haven't ever pursued it. Maybe I should and then my critiques would stop?!

*Feel free to post any secrets you have, I love hearing them!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RACHEL!

It is my sister, Rachel's, birthday tomorrow! I appreciate Rachel so much. She is such a wonderful person in many ways.
Here is a little history behind Rachel and I (she may tell the story differently, but this is my blog so I can tell it however I want!):
When we were younger and living in San Diego still, I was the picked on child. Rachel and Meghan would always gang up on me and Taylor was just a brown-noser, so he picked on me too! I never appreciated Rachel and I didn't consider her a friend, she was just my sister. My family moved to Utah and Rachel moved back to San Diego in 2000. Rachel and I didn't talk much, we would e-mail everyonce in a while. That time apart really made our differences seem of little importance. The next few years, I loved all of Rachel's surprise visits and the times I went down to visit her. We really became pals. Now that I am down in Orem Rachel has become someone that I love and one of my best friends, not just my sister.
Rachel is one of the most caring people in this world and she has one of the biggest hearts I have ever met! She would give me 1/4 of her wardrobe if I asked her, which we all know would be tripling my wardrobe! :)
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY RACHEL DEAR,
HAPPY DAYS WILL COME TO YOU ALL YEAR,
IF I HAD A WISH, THEN IT WOULD BE.....
A HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU FROM ME!!
I love you sis, don't you ever forget it!

  • Water is better than soda, except Dr. Pepper
  • I love learning and feeling my brain at work
  • I like being outgoing- I have met many wonderful people
  • Being goofy is fun
  • Boys are yucky (as said by Rosie)
  • Sleep is not a necessity, until your brain turns off haha
  • I have the craziest/best roommates
  • Positivity is a key to happiness
  • Do what makes you happy- all of the time
  • The earth is our friend-respect
  • I have come closer to the white in my personality
  • I have gone further away from the red/anger in my personality
  • Just do it!
I am very happy I chose to move down to Orem. I like where I am in life right now. I am excited for this summer, I am going down to San Diego, going to the Taylor Swift concert, and working with a boy who has autism. I am so very blessed!!

I have had three wonderful experiences this week and they are all centered around one thing.... SIGNING! I have fallen in love with signing over the past few weeks. I believe it is because I have wonderful examples/influences in my life who all sign. Also, I believe this new love is because I am becoming more comfortable with signing and my vocabulary is increasing!

My sister, Rachel, is such a beautiful signer! I love watching her sign! She is a perfect example to me in my life because she is so real. You will not find a person in this world who will tell you the straight up truth better than Rachel. I am so glad I have her in my life, especially living away from home! Thank you sis, I LOVE YOU!

"snow, Snow, SNow, SNOw, SNOW!"

snow

I am snowed in at my mom and dad's house in Cache Valley.
The canyon has been closed on and off all day.
When I actually attempted to go home, the highway patrol wouldn't let me without snow tires.
I do not like snow.
I am looking forward to spring and summer.
I need my vitamin D!
If you do not know where the title of this blog came from, watch the move A White Christmas.
It is a classic and definitely a favorite at the Johnson home!

Picture of Snow Footprints

To all of my friends and roommates in Utah Valley, I might see you again.

By the way, I totally want the house in the first picture!

It is wonderful!

That's what I love about Sundays!

I took Rachel and Eliza to the airport on Sunday at 11:30. I asked Rachel how long it takes to get to the airport and she said 45 minutes. Crap. I had exactly one hour to get back in time for choir practice before my 1 o'clock church started! I dropped them off, hugged, said quick goodbyes and I was off!

I got up to 100 mph, but mostly stayed at 95 mph. All of a sudden a cop is in my rear viewmirror, so like the idiot I am I slam on the breaks as he goes speeding right past me! Phew! Eventually though, I catch up to him and have to slow down to his speed! AGGH! My stomach dropped into my feet when he turned on his lights! I slammed on the breaks again only to see him pulling off to the side of the road. Weiro cop. I stay at a good 70 mph for a mile and then I am off again doing 95.
I did not make it to choir practice, but I did make it to church.
That's what I love about Sundays!

Locks of Love!

I made a goal, which is quite uncommon for me. I do not like to make goals, because I know it will put me down if I don't achieve the goal. Crappy attitude, I know, I have just always put a lot of pressure on myself to be good and do good.

So... This is my goal. I am going to grow my hair out and donate it to Locks of Love. I have never done this, but always wanted to! I can't really stand short hair on myself, so I am going to grow it out so that I have 10 inches to donate and plenty left over for myself. Selfish attitude, maybe. Good cause, of course!
