- I will only stop at a picture if there is something that stands out to me, good or bad.
- If it stands out to me in a good way, I will look at it and try to burn into my brain why I like it. Maybe the scenery was breath-taking or the family in the photo was a good looking family. Or maybe I like that the certain picture was in sepia instead of black and white.
- If the picture stands out to me in a bad way, I will not burn it into my brain, I will simply discuss in my mind what I don't like about it. Most of the time I don't like photos if I think the photographer is not being original. Or... sad to say, if the people in the picture were caught at the wrong moment. I was looking at this photographer's blog last week and she had posted wedding pictures of a good looking couple. They were good looking when they smiled, but the photographer's style was a lot of serious-faced pictures. In one picture they both had the most confused looks on their faces, I could not believe she put it on her blog. I could tell the confused looks were not intentional, it was ridiculous!
- When I see a picture that stands out to me in a bad way I tend to think, "I am glad the photographer can't hear my thoughts, they would probably stop taking pictures if they did!"
I have always had a really big interest in photography, but haven't ever pursued it. Maybe I should and then my critiques would stop?!
